In that one amazing moment where you look into your partner's eyes and profess your life-long promise, I want you to be absolutely lost in that moment. There are so many things that are happening at a wedding and so many moving pieces it is easy to be distracted by events, worries, friends or family. My goal is to take care of your ceremony so completely that everything else washes away and all that is left is the two of you and your love for each other.
After all, your wedding should be all about you!
So how do I go about doing all that? Well, it's mostly about being detail oriented, preparing and having lots of experience. Because with those things, it is easy for me to guide you around common and uncommon ceremony issues and give you the calm confidence to lose yourself in that perfect moment.
You see, I believe strongly in the traditions and symbolism inherent in weddings and will collaborate with you to build a ceremony that represents you. I'll show you the meanings of various unity ceremonies, readings and actions and help you choose just the right ones that express your love and affection.
On a personal note, I am a Colorado native and have a background in engineering and project management. But I have retired from all of that in order to lead a more fun and independent life. Officiating weddings has become my passion and I look forward to helping you on your special day.
I am a husband and father of two daughters – so there’s at least one marriage I’ve gotten largely right. A proud Coloradan, I married in Kazakhstan. Naturally, I believe that marriage and the abiding happiness of creating a family isn’t the provenance of any single tradition. No one sought to prevent me from marrying a woman from a different culture and tradition in another country. I have the same obligation to all humankind. We all do. I seek to meet that obligation with joy. So if you want a deeply traditional Western ceremony, I embrace that joyfully. And if you want a contemporary ceremony that you craft together to celebrate your mutual uniqueness, I embrace that joyfully. And if you want a service that fuses disparate spiritual and cultural traditions, I embrace that joyfully too. I have the same obligation to all humankind. We all do.
You probably want a professional too. While your ceremony will be perfectly yours, it won't be my first. I have officiated weddings for years and officiated many dozens of beautiful weddings. I am a lifetime educator and writer and have taught university communications classes including public speaking and interpersonal communication. I have taught classes large and small, counseled individuals and small groups, and addressed audiences of nearly a thousand. I hold a Masters degree, and I’ve written on deadline for publication. I will listen to you, research, communicate and collaborate to ensure your wedding ceremony is perfect.
